Yoshitomo Nara

Yoshitomo Nara was born in Hirosaki, is one of the better known Japanese pop art. Today it is arguably almost a cult artist.
His most notable works are those dealing with children. Pastel colors, wide-eyed children (influence of manga), which usually appear alone, but even with a seemingly innocent and angelic, sinister or hidden messages of rebellion.
Nara was raised after the Second World War and like many of his generation take refuge behind this naïve or kawaii aesthetic to show their disagreement with the traditional Japanese society.
Spain has seen an exhibition of Yoshitomo Nara at the CAC Málaga with the creative collective Graf. Most pieces were created specifically for the museum's facilities, and even created "Malaga Tower," a sort of hut of 8 meters where you could find sketches and a reconstruction of the artist's studio.
