Today was the Olympic torch relay in Nagoya (Japan).
The event has run without too many serious incidents by deploying about 3000 police officers to ensure an event safely.
Until Naganos have come thousands of Chinese to support the event, most students living in Japan. Many carried flags of China. Have also approached a few people with Tibetan flags, so police had to be very careful to not have setbacks between these two groups.
Even with all the precautions you have pesplegado Japan, the event has finished with 5 arrested, one for throwing eggs, others jump to grab the torch and another to do strange things with sparklers. In addition there have been four minor injuries in the incident.
If I heard right, people who have run in the torch relay had 48 police around them, plus 2 special police Chinese torch guards. Normally there are many more Chinese police protecting the torch, but Japan refused to come over them.
In the first video in English can see the security measures that were set for the event and the second you can see the mishaps that have occurred.
This year, for some other things and I could only go twice snowboad practice. The first time I went to Gunma , a site that I did not like anything because it seemed the snow is ice and narrow roads were full of cliffs. In addition, this site was by bus and it cost us almost 3 hours to arrive.
At another site I've gone is to Naeba , a site that I recommended a fellow of the company that will have all weekend to snowboard and a place I recommend.
I took a plan in which I entered for 12000 yen ticket for Shinkansen (bullet train) and the lift to the slopes, but depending on the month to go and you go on this plan can be found for 8000 yen.
The advantage of going on Shinkansen, is to be much more comfortable than by bus and arrive in just a hour and a half, so the price you pay for the transportation of more than worth it because you can snowboard almost a 3 hours rather than going by train. Another advantage it has is that Shinkansen usually leave every hour, so you can make your own travel plans, while travel by bus you have to choose the time they tell you because there is only one bus a day that goes there from Tokyo.
In Naeba Prince Hotel is located in the same quiet, so it is advisable to make a trip of several days and enjoy the Onsen is in the hotel, restaurants etc..
The track from what I have said this forever as the day I went, with much snow soft and well cared for, besides having a lot of tracks to choose and be extremely large.
Next to Naeba, other ski stations as Tashiro, Kagura Mitsumada and stations to which I have not gone but definitely go and see.
One thing I found curious is that in Japan, compared with Spain is much greater number of people doing that Snowboarders Ski. In Naeba if I remember correctly, 60% of people do snowboarding.
If you plan to go do Snowboard / Ski, you can book a trip on the web at the Prince Hotel or at any branch of JR.
Yesterday was just the first tournament of the year for most, the Emperor's Cup. This cup has been one of the most exciting drinks in the last 5 years, since the tournament was not decided until the last battle in which Hakuho and Asashoryu fought, the two who were first in the competition with one defeat and also the only two yokozuna (grand champion) who is now in Japan.
Yokozuna is the highest level you can get a sumo wrestler, there are years that there is only one Yokozuna, there are years in which there are more than one and others where there is none, because to be Yokozuna to be part of rules and have won at least 2 consecutive tournaments while at the level of ozeki (one level below yokozuna) there are other unwritten rules decided by judges like behavior, the level of the victories and so on.
Asashoryu is 27 and is yokozuma 5 years, but lately does not have good reputation because a few months ago called down the tournament because he was injured and went to play soccer in their country (Mongolia).
Mongolian Hakuho is also yokozuma and was promoted last year, as this fighter is only 22 years and lately we like very nice in my Spanish friends because besides being young lives in the same building as one of my friends.
The fight was pretty impressive as sumo wrestling usually last only a few seconds, but the battle between the yokozuna pretty hard yesterday.
Click below to watch the full video of the fight yesterday. To the right and left Hakuho Asashoryu.
Last Saturday was held in Tokyo the end of K1 World GP , which won the Dutch Semmy Schilt, also champion in 2005 and 2006 against another Dutchman named Peter Aerts, who was champion in the years 94, 95 and 98.
The ending was not as expected, as Peter Aerts did not stay on the ground by the blow that struck him Semmy Schilt but because it seems to have had a knee injury.
It is curious that in the K1 World GP is a large number of Dutch fighters and the only Japanese who came to the end (which has merit) fell KO in minutes.
Here a few videos of the finals, but you have them all on Youtube :
Final: Peter Aerts vs Semmy Schilt.
Semifinals: Jerome Le Banner vs Semmy Schilt
Peter Aerts vs Junichi Sawayashiki
