Today we went to visit Kamakura Japanese with some friends I met in England last summer. Kamakura is a city located about 50 kilometers southwest of Tokyo.
Kamakura is famous for the multitude of temples that have, but especially by the great Buddha Amitabha, made of bronze. Amitabha measured over 13 meters and ranks as the second largest Buddha statue in Japan. The statue was built in 1252 and has withstood major earthquakes without being destroyed, although on one occasion was restored and changed its base by a vibration absorbing.
One of the most curious of the Buddha is that you can enter into it, because it is hollow inside and back of the Buddha can see two very nice windows to let in light.
