Golden Week
The "Golden Week" or "Golden Week" for those who do not speak English, is a combination of 4 national holidays that often stretches to a week's holiday and has been held since 1989.
These 4 national holidays are:
- April 29 Showa Day (Showa no hi): This is the birthday of Emperor Showa, who died in 1989.
- May 3, Constitution Day (Kenpo Kinenbi): This day in 1947 the Japanese constitution was put into operation.
- May 4, Environment Day (Midori no hi): This is a day dedicated to nature because the Showa Emperor loved nature. This day is not really a national holiday, but in Japan there is a law that if between two national holidays is one working day, this happens to be holiday estomáticamente.
- May 5, Children's Day (Kodomo no hi): The families pray for a healthy future for their children. Is equivalent to the day of the girls (Hinamatsuri) but for the boys.
This year's April 29 fell on a Sunday, and in Japan if a national holiday falls on Sunday this was happening the next day, so this year on Monday April 30th is a holiday.
The days listed above are the official holidays, but many companies do bridge in the days of the medium for a whole week of vacation. The study centers also tend to make almost every bridge, so this week I have entire week of school holidays.
At this time many Japanese to travel advantage as they have many holidays, so this time travel prices are really expensive.
