First visit to Mount Fuji
First I want to put a small description of what is "Mount Fuji" according to wikipedia:
Mount Fuji (富士山), with 3,776 meters altitude, is the peak height of the island of Honshu and around Japan . It lies between the prefectures of Shizuoka and Yamanashi in central Japan just west of Tokyo , where you can see on a clear day. The Fuji is a volcano composed .
Considered sacred since ancient times, they were forbidden to women reach the top until the Meiji era (late s. XIX ). Now a popular tourist destination and a popular destination for mountain-climbing. The season "official" mountain climbing lasts from early July to late August . A majority of that scale in the evening to see the sunrise.
Mount Fuji is an attractive volcanic cone and is a recurring theme in Japanese art. The most renowned work is the masterpiece 36 views of Mount Fuji painter's ukiyo-e Hokusai . Also published in Japanese literature and is the subject of many poems.
Mount Fuji is classified as an active volcano, but with little risk of eruption. The last recorded eruption dates back to 1707 during the Edo period . Then, it formed a new crater , and a second peak (Hoeizan called by the name of the age).
This introduction is because for a while I look forward to climb Mount Fuji, but of all the Japanese I know so far no one wants to raise with me, because it costs up to the top 6 to 8 hours walking (and you can not climb car to the top) and requires a minimum of physical preparation.
As I had said many times about going to climb Mount Fuji, last Sunday we went with parents to Ayumi can be reached by car from Mount Fuji, which is 2000 meters high, there we're all a little few marked trails to go to the top of the "little Fuji", a small mountain in the middle of Mount Fuji and see that there is a small temple near the hostel.
On the way back we had the misfortune to catch a big jam with what we got four hours late home.
I hope this year to meet someone who wants to climb Mount Fuji with me next summer, since winter is almost impossible.
